I had one request for the beach this year: a family picture on the beach. Simple enough right? Wrong.
The family was obliging and most of them even went by the dress code: white shirts with khaki or denim shorts/pants/skirts - whatever your preference.
But the weather - not so much. It’s always windy at the beach but this year, it was gale force winds or something. We would sit up on the top level on the house and watch TV and the wind would whistle outside as if it were winter. We laughed that we should be having hot chocolate and smores from the sound of it.
This lasted pretty much all week but we hoped by picture day, it wouldn’t be so bad. No luck. Thankfully we all have the same windswept look in each picture. We got some good shots but some were pretty ridiculous - hair here, there and everywhere.
I’m in the process of uploading and as soon as I find one that works for everyone, I’ll share. But for now I’m packing and getting ready to enter the real world again. At least next week is a short week so I can ease back into it.

Because everybody needs a break sometime. And about half of the people that read this blog are right now in the same house with me.
So here are a few highlights from day one to tide you over until I feel like doing this again:
What’s on an onoin?
Excuse me ma’am, do you have any anti-chafing lotion?
Did you just order a King Tut prime rib?
Move your ….. peaches.
$4.29 for a bag of oreos? Are you kidding me?

Vacation countdown is getting smaller and smaller! I’m so excited I’m just beside myself.
This week, I’ve been working on a beach playlist for my iPod that we can rig next to our pool. So far it includes:
The Beach Boys
Jan and Dean
Jimmy Buffett
Various Oldies from the 60s and 70s
Southern Rock including Skynrd, Allman Brothers, The Band
Any recommendations on items I’m missing?

I may not understand why things happen but as long as I understand who is in charge, I’ll be just fine.
This is one of my favorite songs by Twila Paris and it accurately sums up how I’m feeling at the moment. Just close your eyes and listen. I don’t know the girl singing and I don’t know who Kevin is but it’s the only video of the song I could find.

Can you tell the state just by it’s shape? This is way harder than I thought it would be. And they do tilt them and move them so it’s hard to tell what they are.
I did very poorly.
