He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

h1 November 12th, 2007

So I’m about to out myself as a closet Osmonds fan. It’s not something I would announce to the world usually but with Marie kicking up her heels on “Dancing with the Stars” and then the whole family appearing on Oprah on Friday, I don’t feel so alone in my love for them anymore.

Over 100 Osmonds were on her show and it was so much fun to watch. You rarely see celebrity families that are as functional and loving as they are. They talked about their dad that had passed away that week and how lucky they were to have such a family. I admit it - I got teary a few times.

My family went to Branson during one of those two-week family vacations and saw the Osmonds live at their theater. It was loads of fun and I mostly remember the Osmond sons that performed. Because me being a teenage girl that was way more interesting to me. They all looked like a young Donny to me.

So I’ll proudly crank my iPod up to “Down by the Lazy River” and not be ashamed. Good music never goes out of style. Unless it’s disco. Enjoy.

Here are the originals:

And here are the sons:

  2. Two words….”Paper Roses”……
    You’re not alone, my dear…..

  3. did you see Marie on Leno last night? She and Terry Bradshaw were a hoot! I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes.
    Have a good day…

  4. I’m with you! I’ve loved Donny since I was 12 years old. I have pictures of me posing beside his posters and albums. Just knew I was going to marry him one day! He still looks as good as he did then. I wish so much they would bring back some of the old Andy Williams shows and do a special where they they show them in their entirety.
    Love reading your blogs.

  5. Hey, Lydia~

I was the one Donny was going to marry one day…..after all, I had all the Tiger Beats and he would’ve loved a girl who didn’t smoke…I figured I was a shoe in.

And, I’m sorry to hurt anyone’s feelings, but he did sing Puppy Love with me in mind and I was the Little Girl that he asked to go away before he had to stay…..I was surely the inspiration for all of those songs. And I did have the original Donny and Marie dolls and soundstage…that’s got to count for at least an engagement with Donny, right? But luckily I ended up marrying a guy who’s even better than Donny (if you can believe it) and who actually made me and Lori feel almost ok about missing Donny in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway - my husband is still so utterly jealous of my undying love for Donny (that was sort of pathetic photo opp for Donny…but we do still love him). I wish they’d give Donny and Marie another variety show…we could use that!
